Denial of Service.  Someone within the realm has figured out a bug that makes the board crash.  It's happened 3 or 4 times over the last couple of days.  Vitoc isn't going to expend much effort into keeping GMud going, so if whoever is doing it wants to see GMud disappear, then I guess that will ruin it for everyone.

On another board, they were also getting DOS attacks. I asked about it and was told this is happening to lots of other boards too. This was over the past few weeks. If that was true, then GMUD is not alone. Why in the world someone would want to destroy an old text-based game, I have no idea. But its sad.

i guess from what im hearing its the port... 23 thats getting attacked... few that have had the problem changed the port and the problem has since left.... couldnt hurt

Correct. The board that it worked for did it this way:
1. Create FB group. 2. real players join group. 3. Get new port number
